The Story Behind $INTHEWEEDS

In the spring of 2010 in New York City, our founder, Joe Fabish, was heading out with friends when one of them took a liking to the watch on his wrist. Joe wasn't selling, but they worked out a deal — his friend could wear it for the night in exchange for something called Bitcoin. Exactly how much Bitcoin changed hands depends on who's telling the story and how many drinks had been consumed, but somewhere between 10,000 and 100,000 Bitcoin found their way into Joe's hands that night. Keep in mind, nobody knew what Bitcoin was back then. What mattered most was that Joe became a true Bitcoin OG — and that eventually pulled him deeper into the world of crypto. Too bad he didn't hold onto all of it, but that's a story for another day.

Fast forward to 2021. Joe is retired, living in Florida, and looking for something to keep him sharp beyond basketball, tennis, and the occasional — okay, quite often — drink. He takes a job as a server at the Olive Garden next to Disney Springs in Orlando. His friends gave him two weeks, maybe three. They were wrong.

Joe didn't just survive — he thrived. For two and a half years he became the top server at that restaurant, and if we're being honest, probably the best server in Orlando.

But beyond the accolades, something more important was happening. Joe watched the people around him work incredibly hard — long shifts, sore feet, relentless hustle — with very little to show for it at the end of the month. He ran food, entertained tables with stories, made sure the soda machine never ran out of ice, and somewhere in between all of that, he fell in love with the people he worked alongside. A few of them were even dabbling in crypto themselves — mostly gambling on meme coins with no real utility, but hey, at least they were getting their feet wet.

That's when the question hit him: there has to be a way to do more for these people.

And that question became $INTHEWEEDS — a token developed by hospitality workers, for hospitality workers.
